Treatment support

Once you prescribe SAMSCA for your patients, they can enroll in the Patient Experience Liaison (PEL) program. A PEL is a patient support representative who can speak directly to your patient or caregiver to review treatment access steps, provide helpful resources, and answer questions about insurance.

Financial support resources

For patients who need additional support paying for their treatment, here is a list of resources that may be able to help: 

Patient Access Network Foundation
Helps uninsured patients with out-of-pocket costs and advocates on behalf of patients for improved access and affordability.

HealthWell Foundation
Dedicated to improving access to care for patients who are underinsured by assisting with copays, premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.

The Assistance Fund
Provides patients and their families with financial assistance for their copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and other health-related expenses.

Medicare financial assistance

There are also multiple support options through Medicare. Below is a list of government resources that can provide financial assistance to patients.

Delivers accurate cost and coverage information right to a smartphone for a quick and handy reference.

Medicare.gov State Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs   
Participating states offer patients financial support for prescription drugs.

Medicare.gov Savings Programs   
Assists patients with limited income to pay for their Medicare premiums and other medical expenses.

Medicare.gov Extra Help (Part D)   
Helps patients with limited income and resources pay their Medicare prescription drug program costs, like premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance.

Medicare State Health Insurance Assistance Programs   
Find programs that educate and assist Medicare-eligible patients, their families, and caregivers through outreach, counseling, and providing access to care and benefits.

Patient assistance

Otsuka Patient Assistance Foundation (OPAF)
OPAF is a nonprofit organization that assists underinsured and uninsured patients who have been prescribed Otsuka medications. There are specific eligibility criteria that applicants must meet prior to their approval for assistance. It's important to note that Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. does not control or influence how OPAF distributes funds.
